Area quilters brought a bit of Christmas to the Greene County Fair last year with a Christmas theme for the People’s Choice quilt block contest. Thirty-four blocks were entered in the contest, with “votes” in the contest being cash donations.
Suzanne Sievers and the Stitch donated all the supplies and the labor to construct a full size quilt of the blocks. The quilt, which is now on display at the Stitch in Jefferson, is being raffled along with a pair of throw pillows. Tickets are $1 each or six for $5, with all proceeds going to the Greene County 4-H program.
Raffle tickets are available now at the Stitch or at the Greene County Fair, July 13-18.
The tradition will continue, with the 2016 People’s Choice contest using batiks in shades of blue and cream. Blocks need to be 12-1/2″ (unfinished measurement) and delivered to the fair open class on Wednesday, July 13. Contact the Stitch at 515-386-2014 or email ssievers@netins.net for information.
